Tidy Cupboard – Changes Afoot

Posted by on: Friday, Jul. 1st 2016 12:36 AM

As you will all know, for some time now we have seen a drop in the number of players in the Tidy Cupboard. This has continued for a while now and David and I have made a decision to change things around a little.

Rather than lose the room completely, something we don’t want to do, we’re going to try and revive it. How we plan to do that may sound a little odd but there is a method in our madness. However, it does mean that from 1st August 2016 the Cupboard is only to be open on the 1st Tuesday of every month.

Loyalty Rewarded At Tidy Bingo

Posted by on: Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 2:47 PM

As regulars at Tidy Bingo will know, the network offers a loyalty reward scheme that sees you earn extra bonuses, cash back etc. as you rise through the ranks. As a little something extra, we’re going to introduce a form of loyalty scheme into the Tidy Cupboard too.

As you will have noticed, player numbers have been dropping of late in the Cupboard and as such, it doesn’t remain viable to keep giving away as many loyalty points as we have been whilst player numbers diminish.

Tidy Bingo Up For Best Jumpman Gaming Bingo Site

Posted by on: Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 1:23 PM

The Which Bingo Award shortlist has been announced today and once again Tidy Bingo has received a nomination. This year there isn’t a Best Boutique Bingo Site, the category we usually find ourselves in. For 2016, we have been nominated as Best Jumpman Gaming Bingo Site and for the first time since we launched, we’re going to put a bit of effort into winning.

It’s not that we don’t want to win, of course it isn’t, but we are always competing with brands we have bigger budgets and more players so it often feels like we are a non-starter. This year however, only five of the brands under the Jumpman Gaming hat have been nominated so our odds of winning are slightly better!

Catchphrase Competition – March 2016

Posted by on: Thursday, Feb. 25th 2016 1:29 PM

Can you believe it’s nearly March already? It seems like only yesterday that we were running Christmas competitions and rummaging in Santa’s Sack! Anyway, as the year rolls on, it’s time for another Catchphrase competition and your chance to win a selection of Tidy branded goods, maybe some Help For Heroes bits and bobs and even some bonus funds!

This time we’re going to do things a little differently (not much) and will be sending the competition by internal mail, external mail and posting on Facebook. We’re hoping this gets more people involved and who knows, with enough entries – we might even throw in a few extra prizes!

Ham And Egg Cups

Posted by on: Sunday, Jan. 24th 2016 5:36 PM

As some of you may know, I’m currently with Slimming World trying to shed a few stone. If you’ve never done this diet before then it’s worth knowing that foods are divided into categories and it is actually the only diet that I have done that I have found really easy to stick to. The only thing that I am not completely comfortable with is the weekly meetings, and whilst I know many get a lot from the meetings – they don’t really do it for me. If any of you guys want to slim along with me – feel free. I lost 6.5lbs in my first week….

That said, I have paid for 10 sessions, so I will do those and then probably just continue alone at home. Anyway, I digress, the reason for this blog post was to share one of the recipes that I made today, one that I really enjoyed and takes hardly any time to make. It’s a free food, so you can eat as many of these as you want.

Free Jackpot Game – The Outcome

Posted by on: Saturday, Jan. 23rd 2016 9:50 PM

I thought that I’d sit in the room and watch our biggest every free game take place tonight, the big £1000 jackpot. I wanted to see who were winners, and of course, report the outcome to all the Tidy Bingo players who were otherwise engaged.

In total there were a whopping 4,437 when the game got underway and I was on tenterhooks (as I am sure the players in the room were too).

Thank You, Thank You And Again, Thank You

Posted by on: Tuesday, Dec. 22nd 2015 7:38 PM

There are many things that I love about Tidy and for those of you that know me, you’ll know that it has always been a dream of mine to run my own bingo site. From player, to host, from host to writer and then writer to site owner, it took me ten years to get here but I did.

There have been ups and downs, as our blog readers know, but one of the biggest ups happened this week. Quietly beavering away in my office, the doorbell rings with a delivery…..

Delia’s All-In-One Sponge

Tuesday, Jun. 30th 2015 12:10 AM

I really like this recipe as it is simplicity itself. I have made it many times and played around with it, adding cocoa powder, lemon and coconut, I’ve even used it to make buns. The mix literally takes 5 minutes and is a great one to get your children to make too.

115g self-raising flour
1 level teaspoon baking powder
115g spreadable butter (or margarine)
115g golden caster sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Strawberry/raspberry jam/lemon curd/cream

Nigella’s Store Cupboard Chocolate Orange Cake

Friday, Jun. 26th 2015 12:10 AM

Surprisingly, I’ve not chosen a Delia recipe to start off with but a Nigella Lawson one, Store-Cupboard Chocolate-Orange cake, taken from her book “How To Be A Domestic Goddess”. It’s really easy as you make it all in a saucepan. I usually make this cake at Christmas and replace the orange marmalade with apricot jam and ginger preserve, but it just as good made in the Summer with the marmalade. You can swap any sort of jam in to be honest, I’ve seen blogs with people using raspberry or quince jam as well, so can adjust this one to suit your taste.

Blondie’s Cookery Corner

Monday, Jun. 22nd 2015 12:10 PM

Thanks to Coff sharing her flapjack recipe in the Cupboard last week I thought I’d start off a blog that shares simple and easy to make recipes we can all manage. For years now I have had great fun making buns and the odd cake from scratch for my 2 girls. I’m by no means the worlds greatest cook or baker, in fact I’m not even mediocre, but I do like that “Mum of the Year” feeling you get when they can’t eat your offerings fast enough and, a bit like Oliver, beg for more. I like nice and simple recipes (surprise, surprise), that taste great with minimum effort.

I learned to cook, like many of us, watching my Mum and then school cookery lessons. Once my children were born I bought Delia’s Complete Cookery Course which was a godsend for basics and really taught me some great tips. A family favourite is Delia’s All in One Victoria Sponge, and her cheese sauce is simplicity itself.

10 Things You May Not Know About heidi2111

Friday, Jun. 19th 2015 7:27 AM

Our next victim … I mean contributor to the “10 Things You May not Know About Me” blog is heidi2111. Whilst we have been trying to coerce players into submitting their 10 things, very few of our regulars have. You might think that your life isn’t quite as interesting as some that have furnished us with their 10 things but remember, it’s all subjective. What you might consider uninteresting, we’d all love to know about you so if you’ve yet to drop us an email with your 10 things, please do it – we love receiving them!

We’re not about to name and shame those that have as yet chosen not to share, but we would really love to hear about your life. All you have to do is let us know 10 things about yourself that would probably wouldn’t know and email them to team@tidybingo.com.

Fashion Failures

Tuesday, Jun. 16th 2015 12:18 AM

Home at Blondie Towers we have recently been watching a really funny TV show on E4 called “The Goldbergs”. Set in the 1980’s it’s about a regular family in the US – Mum, Dad, teen daughter, teen son and nearly teen youngest son and is based on real things that happens in the life of the of the youngest son. A bit like a newer “Wonder Years” for those of you who ever saw it. It’s a really sweet yet funny show which pays real attention to detail and with that it shows the horrors of 1980’s fashion. I was a teenager then and wow did it remind me of some of the terrible things I wore and how awful I looked at times.

First of all – the haircuts. I started off the 80’s begging my mum to cut off my waist length hair to have a “Princess Di” haircut which was fine however I, of course, looked just like a boy rather than a fairytale princess. By the mid 80’s I was committing the most horrendous fashion crime of all – the bubble perm. Every had one – my best friend, my Mum, even my Nan. I have been very brave and included a photo – I was about15/16 when this was taken and managed to look about 45!

Lucky Numbers

Friday, Jun. 12th 2015 1:37 AM

A few of you Tidy Cupboard regulars may have noticed the weird phenomenon of the ghost number 7 that pops up in my chat every now and then to confuse us all. Of course we now know that once that mysterious number 7 has appeared if you are trying to bingo on a number with a 7 in it you are in trouble. Strange because 7 is seen as a lucky number in many cultures but in the Cupboard it’s end of game. I thought I’d look at lucky numbers this week and see if any of you have any stories or strong feelings towards certain numbers when playing bingo or in general day to day life.

I had been told by a lady once that 7 has a great deal of meaning in your life, that life events tend to take a 7 year pattern and big chances happen every 7th year. I laughed at this at the time but looking back now I can see some pattern in my life that seems to agree with this. At 21 I left my banking job to take my A’ Levels, at 28 I met my husband, at 35 we split, at 42 I began my next long term relationship – I wonder what age 49 will hold for me…hopefully a lottery win!

First Crushes

Tuesday, Jun. 9th 2015 12:31 AM

My eldest daughter has been totally and utterly obsessed with a You Tuber called Cib (don’t ask) for the past 6 months and this really is her first proper schoolgirl crush. She told me in all seriousness the other day that when she is 20 (the age he is) and she meets him he will, of course, fall in love with her and marry her. I remember feeling exactly the same about my first crush at that age and it really did make me smile.

It was the drummer from Madness, Woody. Of course I never just called him Woody, I felt I knew him so used to use his full name, Daniel Mark Woodgate, to separate me from every day fans who just didn’t understand him. They didn’t know that attention to detail like this was the thing that would make him notice me. My entire bedroom wall was covered with the fact file pages from Smash Hits and No1 magazine with all the important details of the love of my life – favourite colour, favourite food, height.

Well it would seem that ‘tickleme’ was not as forthcoming with her 10 things as we might have hoped, we’re still waiting to read her interesting facts! That said, we do forgive her a little bit because she does have a little ‘un to run around after so she can take a rain check for now!

Luckily onetreehill85 was quick to volunteer some details about herself so without further ado, please read on for the 10 Things You May Not Know About ‘our Claire’.

Pets Corner

Friday, Jun. 5th 2015 12:16 AM

Are you a doggie lover or are you cat crazy? Are friends with the fishes or a honey to the hamsters. After watching the lovely dog acts on Britain’s Got Talent this week, and watching the stern Simon Cowell going all gooey over the canine cabaret, I thought I’d share with you a little pet history of my own and hopefully find out about any animals that share your hearts too.

My first memories of having a pet was when I was about 4 and we were living at my Grandad’s. He had a gorgeous black Labrador called Toby and I remember riding on his back because I scraped my leg against the wooden bannister whilst doing it which hurt like mad. He was a lovely old thing, so gentle with me and my younger brother Andy and we loved him to bits. However, tragedy came when he ran away to the circus. Of course, Andy and I never found out until many years later that he had passed away and spent many years imagining Toby performing around the country as a circus dog – ahh the innocence of children.
