Tidy Cupboard – Changes Afoot

Posted by on: Friday, Jul. 1st 2016 12:36 AM

As you will all know, for some time now we have seen a drop in the number of players in the Tidy Cupboard. This has continued for a while now and David and I have made a decision to change things around a little.

Rather than lose the room completely, something we don’t want to do, we’re going to try and revive it. How we plan to do that may sound a little odd but there is a method in our madness. However, it does mean that from 1st August 2016 the Cupboard is only to be open on the 1st Tuesday of every month.

Loyalty Rewarded At Tidy Bingo

Posted by on: Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 2:47 PM

As regulars at Tidy Bingo will know, the network offers a loyalty reward scheme that sees you earn extra bonuses, cash back etc. as you rise through the ranks. As a little something extra, we’re going to introduce a form of loyalty scheme into the Tidy Cupboard too.

As you will have noticed, player numbers have been dropping of late in the Cupboard and as such, it doesn’t remain viable to keep giving away as many loyalty points as we have been whilst player numbers diminish.

Tidy Bingo Up For Best Jumpman Gaming Bingo Site

Posted by on: Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 1:23 PM

The Which Bingo Award shortlist has been announced today and once again Tidy Bingo has received a nomination. This year there isn’t a Best Boutique Bingo Site, the category we usually find ourselves in. For 2016, we have been nominated as Best Jumpman Gaming Bingo Site and for the first time since we launched, we’re going to put a bit of effort into winning.

It’s not that we don’t want to win, of course it isn’t, but we are always competing with brands we have bigger budgets and more players so it often feels like we are a non-starter. This year however, only five of the brands under the Jumpman Gaming hat have been nominated so our odds of winning are slightly better!

Catchphrase Competition – March 2016

Posted by on: Thursday, Feb. 25th 2016 1:29 PM

Can you believe it’s nearly March already? It seems like only yesterday that we were running Christmas competitions and rummaging in Santa’s Sack! Anyway, as the year rolls on, it’s time for another Catchphrase competition and your chance to win a selection of Tidy branded goods, maybe some Help For Heroes bits and bobs and even some bonus funds!

This time we’re going to do things a little differently (not much) and will be sending the competition by internal mail, external mail and posting on Facebook. We’re hoping this gets more people involved and who knows, with enough entries – we might even throw in a few extra prizes!

Ham And Egg Cups

Posted by on: Sunday, Jan. 24th 2016 5:36 PM

As some of you may know, I’m currently with Slimming World trying to shed a few stone. If you’ve never done this diet before then it’s worth knowing that foods are divided into categories and it is actually the only diet that I have done that I have found really easy to stick to. The only thing that I am not completely comfortable with is the weekly meetings, and whilst I know many get a lot from the meetings – they don’t really do it for me. If any of you guys want to slim along with me – feel free. I lost 6.5lbs in my first week….

That said, I have paid for 10 sessions, so I will do those and then probably just continue alone at home. Anyway, I digress, the reason for this blog post was to share one of the recipes that I made today, one that I really enjoyed and takes hardly any time to make. It’s a free food, so you can eat as many of these as you want.

Free Jackpot Game – The Outcome

Posted by on: Saturday, Jan. 23rd 2016 9:50 PM

I thought that I’d sit in the room and watch our biggest every free game take place tonight, the big £1000 jackpot. I wanted to see who were winners, and of course, report the outcome to all the Tidy Bingo players who were otherwise engaged.

In total there were a whopping 4,437 when the game got underway and I was on tenterhooks (as I am sure the players in the room were too).

Thank You, Thank You And Again, Thank You

Posted by on: Tuesday, Dec. 22nd 2015 7:38 PM

There are many things that I love about Tidy and for those of you that know me, you’ll know that it has always been a dream of mine to run my own bingo site. From player, to host, from host to writer and then writer to site owner, it took me ten years to get here but I did.

There have been ups and downs, as our blog readers know, but one of the biggest ups happened this week. Quietly beavering away in my office, the doorbell rings with a delivery…..

That’s So Last Century

Thursday, Dec. 10th 2015 12:15 AM

I was wondering if any of you saw the TV programme “That’s So Last Century” Tuesday evening and if you didn’t the programme is well worth a catch-up. It was about how things (technology wise) were when we were kids and it really was a funny eye opener. It was so interesting to see things we thought were cutting edge at the time look so outdated now.

Who can remember the fun of picture taking when we were young? You can’t? Of course you can’t, if you were very lucky your family had one camera of some description and that was generally known as “Dads'”. No smartphones back then. It would appear on special occasions only and so most people’s photographs of their childhood revolve around Christmas, Birthdays and family occasions. No 25 selfies before you went out to a party for us, and no pictures of every course of every meal or every dress ever worn. Nope, you would have a 24/36 picture film in the camera and you were restricted to that.

Couples Come Dine With Me

Friday, Dec. 4th 2015 11:30 AM

Last night finally saw the long-awaited showing of Nickie’s episode of Couples Come Dine With Me which was filmed in the summer. I don’t know about you guys, but I thought Nickie and Austen came across fantastically well. They were really funny, relaxed and looked very much the happily married couple. I am not sure I could say quite the same for the other couples but, of course, I don’t know them and we know these shows are heavily edited.

Nickie and Austen were the last couple to cook and had been very honest and generous in their scoring. They seemed to be having a great time and enjoying the company each evening. Also, despite the much commented on “Princess Fiona” moment, they got on great with the other couples and Nickie has said that this comment was not as it seems and appeared completely out of context.

TV And The Cupboard

Thursday, Dec. 3rd 2015 12:01 AM

The long awaited Come Dine With Me episode starring Nickie and Austen is finally due to air tonight and our chat room has been full of giggles lately regarding TV. All of us cannot wait for the show but also chat has been full of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Snooze (East) enders – X Factor, or as the “Cubbiers” call it Fix Factor, has lost its shine to us, so I thought I’d do a quick blog about what has been happening in the other 2 shows.

Firstly lets look at I’m A Celeb again. This has to be one of the best ones ever with the mesmerizingly wicked Lady C. Her insults just keep on coming and, in her own words, she is relentless when taking someone down a peg or 2. She no longer calls Duncan anything other than “goat” or if he is lucky “old goat”, her disdain for tubby Tony seeps through every pore of her body and her absolute belief that she is the only one with a valid point on ANY subject is brilliant.

I’m A Celebrity – Thoughts So Far

Friday, Nov. 27th 2015 12:15 AM

We have had a few conversations in the Cupboard recently about I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here so I thought I would do a little review about what has been happening. Let’s start with to Lady C or not to Lady C – because that is definitely the question! I have been both appalled and it fits about this so-called “Lady”‘s behaviour. Using a knife and fork to eat testicles and bugs in the first bush tucker trial was bordering on genius and I am sure many people around the country were warming to her despite her airs and graces. However, her absolutely shocking name calling and “saying it as it is” attitude has definitely rubbed many camp mates up the wrong way, and it seems many of the viewers too. Her nasty words to Brian made for jaw-dropping but hilarious TV. She truly is on another planet if she thinks you can speak to people that way without any comeback, but I do like the way she is intimidated by no-one and will not allow Tony or Duncan to belittle her in any way.

Speaking of Tony and Duncan, thanks to their many disagreements with Lady C, they are coming across as pompous, sexist old fools and certainly not the alpha males they’d think they are. Tony particularly seems very patronising. I cannot believe that grown men would stoop to shouting “lalalalala” over anyone whilst they were speaking even if it was the loud mouth Lady herself. Chris and Kieron, in their chivalrous (if misguided) protection of the scathing socialite, have come across as gentlemanly and thoughtful men. I know if I had sons I would like them to behave like these boys rather than Tone and Dunc. The others chaps on the camp – Brian and George are also not coming across all that well in my humble view. Brian is definitely a diva and used to controlling any situation and I think sympathies for him are fast waning with the viewing public, he certainly likes his point to be heard. George, as sweet as he is, is really rather pointless apart from eye candy for younger viewers at the moment. Maybe he will come into his own soon.

A Weekend At Nickie’s

Monday, Nov. 23rd 2015 11:42 PM

When I set off Saturday lunchtime to stay at Nickie and Austen’s house for the weekend I was looking forward to a lovely weekend but, of course, wasn’t expecting the wonderful surprises Nickie and the Cubbiers had planned for me. My girls were very much looking forward to meeting Nickie after hearing so much about her and also looking forward to trying the Come Dine With Me menu later on.

We arrived about 2 pm after a lovely drive up in the sunshine which was when Nickie broke it to me that Christmas was coming a little early for me. As you can see from the photos I was absolutely blown away by the gifts I received and would like to thank each and every one of you. I love our time together in the Tidy Cupboard and to be treated to such lovely presents from you guys, and from Nickie & David was really amazing. Thank you! My girls really enjoyed the moment as well, they thought the hot pink toilet roll hilarious, and found it all very exciting.

X Factor – Two More Contestants Eliminated

Tuesday, Nov. 17th 2015 12:15 AM

This weekend saw yet another two contestants sent home in a, not quite so much of a shock double elimination, with the theme being “Movie Night”. Comments are rife on social media that the show really is fixed after Olly Murs’ blooper moment, declaring Monica was going home before deadlock had been announced and the voting revealed. The shine really is being taken off the show this year with moments like this and I do wonder if we will see X Factor return next year.

Caroline Flack continued with her campaign to be named the worst TV presenter of the year despite Olly’s mishap and on Saturday was sporting a red string shopping bag with lace frills for an outfit and what looked like a bleach fail as her hair was scraped back into a messy ponytail which didn’t quite hide some nasty orange streaks. She had repaired the hair by Sunday, but her awful fashion sense was still in evidence. Monica Michael also caused controversy after elimination by shouting “Class of 2015 X Factor! BANG BANG BANG!” whilst pretend to fire a gun with her hands. Not the most appropriate gesture in the wake of the terrible tragedy in Paris Friday evening. My thoughts go out to the French and all involved.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2015

Friday, Nov. 13th 2015 12:15 AM

Sundays are going to be super again with the start of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here this weekend. I know quite a few of you are fans so I thought I’d have a little look at who is going to be on the show this year and let you know a few of my favourite bits from contestants past. I must admit I am a little sad the rumours of Karl Pilkington ( An Idiot Abroad and The Moaning Of Life) being on the show proved to be false. I think he would have been hilarious but maybe we will see him in the future. This year’s bunch of “junglers” look set to make it a very interesting and entertaining show and I wonder who will crack first.

The full line up as of today is: Jorgie Porter (Theresa in Hollyoaks), George Shelley (X Factors Union J), Chris Eubank (Boxer), Duncan Bannatyne (Dragon’s Den), Brian Friedman (ex-creative director and choreographer X Factor), Susannah Constantine (What Not To Wear), Kieron Dyer (former England and Newcastle United footballer), Yvette Fielding (ex Blue Peter and Most Haunted presenter), Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and Lady Colin Campbell (“famous” for a book about Princess Diana’s affair with James Hewitt).

X Factor Weekend – Second Double Elimination

Tuesday, Nov. 10th 2015 12:15 AM

The theme was reinvention for the contestants this weekend and the jury is out as to how well this was achieved by all of the acts. The judges themselves seemed to be a bit confused about what the theme meant so we saw some very different interpretations. Before I look at those I have to mention Caroline Flack (again). I would love to know who dresses her as her outfits, particularly Sundays, are awful. She continued to talk over Ollie when he was presenting, squinted constantly for her badly delivered lines and her interviewing skills, whether it is the contestants or the acts on the show are cringeworthy.

This week Simon looked plain bored which was rather amusing, Grimmy looked like he had overdone the botox and a bit like a rabbit caught in the showbiz headlights for most of the show. Rita and Cheryl, however, looked fantastic. I am starting to look forward to what they will wear, which hairstyle will be worn and, of course, their fab make up. I still think Cheryl is winning the “fash-off” but Rita did a much better job this weekend so the battle is well and truly on. We also had 2 outside acts on the show. One was last year’s runner-up Fleur East and omg didn’t she blow the roof off the place. I didn’t watch the show last year and was seeing her for the 1st time; I thought she was awesome. We also had CeeLo Green on and umm why was he covered in flowers? It was the weirdest outfit I have ever seen and all I could think was that he must be very hot. Not my cup of tea at all.

X Factor First Live Show Weekend

Monday, Nov. 2nd 2015 12:15 AM

This weekend saw the very first live show for our contestants and two of the acts were sent home on Sunday in a shock double vote off. Simon was back to his old dapper self this week and we said goodbye to the Cowell “Shabby Chic” beard. Cheryl looked stunning in two very classy outfits and Rita looked like she had forgotten to put half her clothes on when she showed up Sunday! Nick Grimshaw still annoys the life out of me – I just want Louis Walsh back.

The Saturday Live Show gave the contestants a chance to showcase who they were and most acts did a pretty good job of this. Lauren kicked the show off with a confident and fun performance and her made over hair looked great. Max followed with a strange reggae Adele song, which didn’t work for me but did for most of the judges. I did like Alien Uncovered but at the time I thought they just weren’t the sort of thing Saturday night viewers would get. Kiera came next and looked like a young Beyoncé, stunning. Her performance wasn’t quite as stunning however, it was all a little safe and predictable.

X Factor – The Final 12

Tuesday, Oct. 27th 2015 12:15 AM

This weekend we saw the judges houses competitions and, for the first time, the final 12 for X Factor announced live on TV. Despite Caroline Flacks dreadful autocue skills and her habit of talking over Olly Murs’ lines the shows were packed with drama and exciting to watch. Most of the favourites got through but there were a couple of surprises to keep things controversial.

First to go were Cheryl and the groups. There was some strong competition in this set of acts and it was no surprise that they all performed really well. What was surprising was the fact Cheryl had changed every single bands name? I can understand that there may have been a band called Alien before but BEKLN – surely not. We saw the newly named 4th Impact and Alien Uncovered fly through with fantastic performances for Cheryl and her right hand at the, Jess Glynne. There was no doubt both of these groups deserved their place in the final 12 but Cheryls 3rd choice certainly raised a few eyebrows. All the way through the shows we have seen BEKLYN and Silvertones battling it off (they share a sister and a brother between them) so the money was on one of them taking the 3rd spot. Both sang fantastically and you couldn’t pick between them. So Cheryl chose not too. Instead she put through the bouncy and energetic Reggie n Bollie who will definitely bring plenty of smiles to the proceedings.
