The letter thanks us for the donation and tells of his it is put to use supporting wounded soldiers and their families. If you read on, you will see a scanned copy of the letter.

Tidy Cupboard – Changes Afoot

Posted by on: Friday, Jul. 1st 2016 12:36 AM

As you will all know, for some time now we have seen a drop in the number of players in the Tidy Cupboard. This has continued for a while now and David and I have made a decision to change things around a little.

Rather than lose the room completely, something we don’t want to do, we’re going to try and revive it. How we plan to do that may sound a little odd but there is a method in our madness. However, it does mean that from 1st August 2016 the Cupboard is only to be open on the 1st Tuesday of every month.

Loyalty Rewarded At Tidy Bingo

Posted by on: Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 2:47 PM

As regulars at Tidy Bingo will know, the network offers a loyalty reward scheme that sees you earn extra bonuses, cash back etc. as you rise through the ranks. As a little something extra, we’re going to introduce a form of loyalty scheme into the Tidy Cupboard too.

As you will have noticed, player numbers have been dropping of late in the Cupboard and as such, it doesn’t remain viable to keep giving away as many loyalty points as we have been whilst player numbers diminish.

Tidy Bingo Up For Best Jumpman Gaming Bingo Site

Posted by on: Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 1:23 PM

The Which Bingo Award shortlist has been announced today and once again Tidy Bingo has received a nomination. This year there isn’t a Best Boutique Bingo Site, the category we usually find ourselves in. For 2016, we have been nominated as Best Jumpman Gaming Bingo Site and for the first time since we launched, we’re going to put a bit of effort into winning.

It’s not that we don’t want to win, of course it isn’t, but we are always competing with brands we have bigger budgets and more players so it often feels like we are a non-starter. This year however, only five of the brands under the Jumpman Gaming hat have been nominated so our odds of winning are slightly better!

Catchphrase Competition – March 2016

Posted by on: Thursday, Feb. 25th 2016 1:29 PM

Can you believe it’s nearly March already? It seems like only yesterday that we were running Christmas competitions and rummaging in Santa’s Sack! Anyway, as the year rolls on, it’s time for another Catchphrase competition and your chance to win a selection of Tidy branded goods, maybe some Help For Heroes bits and bobs and even some bonus funds!

This time we’re going to do things a little differently (not much) and will be sending the competition by internal mail, external mail and posting on Facebook. We’re hoping this gets more people involved and who knows, with enough entries – we might even throw in a few extra prizes!

Ham And Egg Cups

Posted by on: Sunday, Jan. 24th 2016 5:36 PM

As some of you may know, I’m currently with Slimming World trying to shed a few stone. If you’ve never done this diet before then it’s worth knowing that foods are divided into categories and it is actually the only diet that I have done that I have found really easy to stick to. The only thing that I am not completely comfortable with is the weekly meetings, and whilst I know many get a lot from the meetings – they don’t really do it for me. If any of you guys want to slim along with me – feel free. I lost 6.5lbs in my first week….

That said, I have paid for 10 sessions, so I will do those and then probably just continue alone at home. Anyway, I digress, the reason for this blog post was to share one of the recipes that I made today, one that I really enjoyed and takes hardly any time to make. It’s a free food, so you can eat as many of these as you want.

Free Jackpot Game – The Outcome

Posted by on: Saturday, Jan. 23rd 2016 9:50 PM

I thought that I’d sit in the room and watch our biggest every free game take place tonight, the big £1000 jackpot. I wanted to see who were winners, and of course, report the outcome to all the Tidy Bingo players who were otherwise engaged.

In total there were a whopping 4,437 when the game got underway and I was on tenterhooks (as I am sure the players in the room were too).

Thank You, Thank You And Again, Thank You

Posted by on: Tuesday, Dec. 22nd 2015 7:38 PM

There are many things that I love about Tidy and for those of you that know me, you’ll know that it has always been a dream of mine to run my own bingo site. From player, to host, from host to writer and then writer to site owner, it took me ten years to get here but I did.

There have been ups and downs, as our blog readers know, but one of the biggest ups happened this week. Quietly beavering away in my office, the doorbell rings with a delivery…..

X Factor Six Chair Challenge – The Overs

Monday, Oct. 19th 2015 12:15 AM

This was the final Sunday of six-chair challenge X Factor shows and firstly we wrapped up the last seats for the groups. Bands BEKLN and Silver Tones sang for their spots, and despite neither performing as well as on previous shows, were both given chairs in place of the two rather lacklustre girl bands – Mon Amie and Rumour Has It. Cheryl does have a good bunch of bands this year but whether they will beat the girls is a tough one to call.

Once the groups were settled it became the Simon Cowell show with him starting the proceedings by moaning “I can’t believe I’ve been stuck with this category. Why am I hating this category even more now?” despite having just apologised to the singers for his lack of enthusiasm. This set the tone of the show for Simon, he told Max Stone he looked half dead before the poor man had a chance to sing a note and muttered “Oh god, I hate this guy” when it was Zen Blythe’s turn to take the stage. Twitter was alive with comments and complaints about his behaviour, prompting one tweet of “Is Simon on his period tonight?” Many viewers did apparently welcome the return of the old Simon Cowell with his mean comments and straight talk – it’s probably what the show needs right now.

X Factor Six Chair Challenge – The Boys/Groups

Monday, Oct. 12th 2015 12:43 PM

This Sunday we saw the Boys six chair challenge and part of the Groups X Factor competition as well. Once, again the scheduling seems a little odd and the programme ended before we knew who the final six were for the groups. Not quite the exciting cliffhanger the producers would like to think. We wait with not quite bated breath for the last two groups to sing next week, alongside the Overs who will be competing to grab a chair.

Desperate to increase the ratings for the X Factor we saw a very confusing, flare up between arrogant rapper Mason Noise and Simon Cowell. The wannabe Kanye not only brought on a fellow rapper whilst singing his audition (despite not in the groups section), he stopped proceedings and strangely asked the crowd to film him on their phones whilst he told some truths. The singer seemed to be upset that he had only received 47 seconds of air time for his original audition whilst others received up to 10 minutes, leading to Simon asking him to leave whilst defending the editing team.

X Factor Six Chair Challenge – The Girls

Tuesday, Oct. 6th 2015 12:15 AM

Sunday saw the start of the 6 chair challenge stage of the competition with the remaining girls having to sing for a place at the judges house and stay in the competition. At the start of the show, we saw the judges being allocated their group of acts. Rita was the luckiest judge and was given the girls to mentor. Simon Cowell, complete with scruffy beard, was furious to have been yet again named as the Overs group to judge. A few expletives needed to be beeped out as he stormed up to Caroline and Olly and asked to check the results. He has since apologised to the audience and his group of contestants on Twitter, but it was a classic TV moment.

The 2 hour show focussed on the final 14 ladies battling it out for just 6 seats and even if you were given a seat early on in the proceedings you could easily lose it for a better performance later. The first shock of the night came in the form of Katie Colemans lacklustre performance. It seemed the nerves got the better of this talented singer and she didn’t even make to a seat despite shining in earlier shows. Another shocker was the exit of 17-year-old Charli Beard who had been highly rated in the press and earmarked as a potential winner. She lost her seat to Havva Rebke, who in many people’s view, was nowhere near as good. Despite the crowd chanting “bring her back” Rita left the young singer out, something she may regret later on in the show.

X Factor Boot Camp Part Two

Tuesday, Sep. 29th 2015 12:15 AM

Last week we saw 180 wannabes reduced to a slightly more manageable 93 and this Sunday the plan was to whittle them down to approximately 60 ready for the 6 chair challenge next week. As the tension mounted we saw many of the favourites flounder with nerves getting the better of many of the acts. It won’t be long now until we have our final 12 and all you Tidyers being allocated with a hopeful to support.

Moment of the week for me was the very weird Papasidero, resplendent in a new outfit of jet black feather wings and a slightly revealing black wizardesque jumpsuit, suffer a hilarious wardrobe malfunction. At the peak of his song he removed his wings and was meant to rip the black robes off his body to reveal an all-white outfit complete with a cheesy message. Sadly for him, but hilariously for us, he struggled to do this and finished his song rather forlornly still clad in black. The singing was out of tune as well so it was a bad day at the office for Davide. However, at the end of the show we saw him being put through to next week – very surprising.

X Factor Auditions And Bootcamp Begins

Tuesday, Sep. 22nd 2015 12:15 AM

This weekend saw the final round of X Factor auditions along with the start of boot camp where the judges began the slow process of removing the wheat from the chaff. After struggling with rating so far, this was the weekend where the wow was meant to be put back into proceedings. However, the show hit another ratings dip, losing another 500k viewers on Saturday compared to the previous week. Worrying times for this Saturday night stalwart show.

Saturdays audition show brought us the usual bunch of bonkers wannabes with the odd shining star to make it all worthwhile. The lowest point was the dreadful boy band DTour, who had the mad manager from hell. When the team gave a unanimous no to the out of tune, badly prepared group their manager came on and sang, yes sang, a begging request for the judges to give them another chance. The judges jaws literally hit the floor and let the band sing again – they were even worse. They got 4 no’s again and let’s just say Mrs Manager was not too happy, claiming she would have the last laugh when they were superstars.

X Factor Auditions – Weekend Three

Tuesday, Sep. 15th 2015 12:15 AM

This weekend saw the 3rd bunch of X Factor auditions and for me they were much better than weekend two. However, viewing figures have been very low compared to previous years and with even Strictly Come Dancing on a break this weekend the ratings are still nearly a million down on last year. Word on the street is that Simon Cowell has been given two weeks to improve things or the show faces the axe. Apparently Caroline Flack has been sent to a weeks detox camp in Portugal, Cheryl Fernadez-Versini has been told to sexy up her outfits and Mr Fluttery Eyes, Nick Grimshaw has been made to tone down his big hair (maybe he should lay off the mascara too). Personally, I don’t think the judges and presenters changing their image will help much – the show so far has been too predictable and staged and that I think is the real problem. Bring back Louis Walsh I say!

Saturday started with the fabulous Davide Papasidero who turned up with enormous white wings. Yes it was gimmicky but his voice was angelic and he made it through, whether he will be able to fly without those wings though is debatable. We saw the very rude “Rock and Rose2 who were far too cool for school and refused to smile or reply to questions from the judges. They were fantastic to listen too but I would never vote for them. We also saw the battle of the gospel choirs with 2 acts hailing from the London Community Gospel Choir. The girl group, the Silvertones, fluffed their 1st song and, surprise surprise, were asked to sing again. Amazingly they managed to put together another piece (and new outfits) within the afternoon. Of course it was brilliant and they were put through but once more the show let itself down as once again it all seemed set up. The male choir, BEKLYN, however, were incredible. Soulful, cool and amazingly tuneful they made me smile and gave me goose bumps. They are in my pick for the final 12 for sure.

I’m A Celebrity Or Am I?

Friday, Sep. 11th 2015 12:15 AM

You may have noticed that the BBC have scheduled Strictly Come Dancing to clash with the X Factor in an attempt to win the bulk of the Saturday night audience. I had a look at the lineup and wondered who on earth half of them actually were. Apart from the faces I do not recognise it has totally annoyed me that Peter (I actually do nothing) Andre is on there. The man had one hit single 20 years ago and then became famous again for his relationship with good old Katie Price, the queen of self-promotion. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth that someone can make so much money on the back of arguments and a divorce played out in the newspapers when there are children involved. If that is how you achieve fame these days I say no thanks. When these celebrity reality shows first started I quite enjoyed them for the novelty factor and for the fact the stars that were on them were actually famous. Nowadays I think I could probably get on one of the shows on the strength of my cheesy TV ad from many moons ago.

Of course Strictly isn’t the only celebrity reality show airing at the moment. We also have Celebrity Big Brother and once again I was shouting at the TV asking “Who?” Since it’s been on channel 5 the show really has been scraping the bottom of the celebrity bucket and this year has to be the worse. Who are Fatman Scoop and Farrah Abraham? How can 2 failed XFactor contestants in a made for TV relationship ever be classed as celebrities? The mind boggles. One thing I did notice was the extent of Janice Dickinson’s plastic surgery (a topic for another time perhaps) such a shame that someone so beautiful feels they have to do this to themselves to stay famous.

X Factor Auditions – Weekend Two

Tuesday, Sep. 8th 2015 1:15 PM

Well, we just had another weekend of X Factor auditions so we are a little bit closer to our Tidy Factor competition and I don’t know about you guys but I found these ones a little disappointing. I was more interested in the “make-up off” between Rita and Cheryl than some of the acts. I must admit some of their looks are amazing but blimey, you couldn’t wear them in the street. My girls commented on Cheryl’s “panda eyes” and I was transfixed by Rita’s amazing but very bright lipstick (promoting her Rimmel line maybe?). I can’t wait to see what frocks they wear in the live shows.

My greatest bugbear this weekend though was Nick Grimshaw. I think he is aiming for the most boring judge title this year. I’m also a little fed up of him fluttering his “Bambi” eyes at every single auditionee. The man sends me to sleep – bring back Louis Walsh! Enough of the judges though as per last week I have had a look at who was hot and who was not (in my humble opinion).

The XFactor Is Back

Friday, Sep. 4th 2015 12:15 AM

The weekend just gone saw the return of the XFactor so the excitement can now start building for our Tidy Factor competition. What a weekend it was. We saw some fantastic final 12 contenders and also some terribly deluded wannabes but the top moment for me was Simon Cowell reduced to tears and rendered speechless. It was one of those magical TV moments that won’t be forgotten for a very long time. My heart went out to Simon who was left this way as, it’s assumed, the song made him think of his Mum who had recently passed away. I teared up as I know a few of you did as well and I hope Josh Daniels carries on singing that beautifully and makes it to the final 12. What about the rest of the weekend though – these are a few of my picks and a few of the Oh My God No’s.

It’s Nearly X Factor Time

Thursday, Jul. 30th 2015 12:15 AM

It’s nearly time again for X Factor and it looks like this season they are really shaking it up. New presenters and new judges – let’s hope the standard of contestant is better as well! I used to be a total addict to the show but have definitely found it less appealing over the past few years. Luckily for me (and you) we are spicing things up by running a sweepstake once we get to the last 12, so that should make things much more interesting.

The new judges are Nick Grimshaw (sorry I am not a fan of his, he seems very smug and trendy), Rita Ora (freshly stolen from The Voice) and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is back again. The only thing we do know is Simon will be there keeping control of the proceedings. We have new presenters as well, Caroline Flack (who??) and Olly Murs. The final change is the voice over man has gone! Peter Dickson – I never knew his name – is leaving after 11 years. It’s a completely new line up.
